Political regimes have existed in various forms since the dawn of societies. Some have been successful, while others have gone very badly. But one thing is for sure… they are all quite entertaining. The stories we remember most are affectionately referred to as ‘scandals,’ and here are the most notorious political scandals in history.
1. The Chappaquiddick Incident
On July 18, 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy was driving with a female passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. While traveling across a bridge in Massachusetts, the car went off the side of the road and into the tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island. Kennedy escaped and left Mary Jo there to die. The wreck became a national scandal, and Kennedy received a two-month jail sentence.
