Revenues in sports and entertainment continue growing exponentially, making them the target of frivolousness from all angles. But interspersed among the silly sports lawsuits are some quite serious ones. In this article we will examine both the funny lawsuits as well as the more important court decisions that changed society’s view of the sports we love.
Two guys from Colorado attended a Houston Texans game against the Chicago Bears, where they were involved in a physical jousting with other fans. After two years of silence, the pair filed a lawsuit with the management company of Reliant Stadium claiming that the stadium encouraged them to use alcohol before the game. They didn’t offer up many convincing details to back the claim, only saying that there wasn’t enough security on hand to properly manage the situation.
If these claims weren’t frivolous enough, the men then demanded to be paid for ALL medical expenses incurred after the fight and any expenses “in the future.”
