Forget candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach and smooth soulful R&B courtesy of Barry White, these crazy animals are changing up the dating game with what can only be described as the most bizarre animal mating rituals you’ll ever see. From hosting massive orgies to Rocky-styled beat downs, the animal kingdom has come up with some unique ways to help you woo that special someone. Before you test these game plays out however, we suggest you run them by the target of your affections – they’re not exactly up everyone’s alley.

Abdopus octopuses play the part of “the jealous boyfriend.”

Male members of the octopus species Abdopus have been recorded to have a very selective animal mating rituals and will do anything for their girls once they get them. The guys typically go for partners who have a little more junk in the trunk, thinking that they will produce the best offspring (and there’s more cushion for the pushin’). Once a male has selected his leading lady, he becomes the typical jealous boyfriend. If another suitor comes her way, he will chase him off and sometimes even strangle the other guy if he doesn’t get the hint that she’s taken. While their antics seem a little overly possessive, the male Abdopus actually has good reason to be suspicious of other males. Often times, “sneaker” males will disguise themselves as females to get close enough to sleep with the girl behind the boyfriend’s back. Talk about sneaky!
